Biographical summary
Xiao Jing (Iris) Wang, M.D., is a general gastroenterologist. Her clinical focus includes:
- Management of general gastrointestinal disorders, such as acid reflux (GERD), constipation, and diarrhea
- Disorders of the Brain-Gut Axis (previously known as functional bowel disorders), including Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional constipation, functional dyspepsia, and abdominal pain
- Diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction
- Promoting patient understanding of the interaction between the central and enteric nervous systems and how this interplay contributes to gastrointestinal symptoms
- Studying and implementing cross-discipline techniques for the treatment of bowel symptoms and disorders, such as gut hypnotherapy, virtual reality, positive psychology, mindfulness, and biofeedback
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Wang is active in research and education, providing mentorship to residents and fellows. She is the associate program director of the GI fellowship, and has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and continues to conduct clinical studies to understand mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms and disorders.
