Biographical summary
John C. Haney, M.D., M.P.H., is a cardiothoracic surgeon and the Chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic in Florida, Dr. Haney held many positions at Duke University Medical Center including Assistant Professor for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Program Director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency Programs, Surgical Director for the Duke Lung Transplant and CTEPH Programs, and Director of the Thoracic Surgery Transplant Fellowship.
His clinical focus includes:
- Adult cardiac surgery, including heart valve surgery and replacement, coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic root and ascending aneurysm surgery, mechanical support, and heart and lung transplantation
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Haney is active in research and education, providing mentorship to residents, fellows, and junior faculty. He authors expert content and publishes in high-impact scientific journals.
