His clinical interests include the comprehensive treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the brain and skull base, minimally invasive and complex cranial surgery, awake brain mapping, endoscopic surgery, robot-assisted neurosurgery, and the surgical treatment of epilepsy, movement disorders, and chronic pain.

Dr. Hachmann completed his neurosurgical residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where he also completed a CAST-approved fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. During that time, Dr. Hachmann also completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with dual concentrations in entrepreneurship and innovation and health care management. Dr. Hachmann graduated from Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg-Germany, where he also completed a Master of Science in Translational Medical Research focusing on molecular oncology. Dr. Hachmann has completed additional graduate and postgraduate education at Mayo Clinic Rochester in Clinical and Translational Science and Neural Engineering at the Mayo Clinic Neural Engineering Laboratories.

His research interests include neural engineering, electrical neuromodulation, neural restoration, innovation and clinical translation, molecular therapeutics and stereotactic delivery, and spinal cord injury. He has published in several leading peer-reviewed scientific journals including Journal of Neurosurgery, Nature Cell Death & Differentiation, Journal of Neurophysiology, Brain and Behavior, and Neuromodulation. Dr. Hachmann also serves as peer reviewer for leading medical and neurosurgical journals including Neurosurgery, World of Neurosurgery, Nature: Scientific Reports, Journal of Neurotrauma, and Neurotrauma Reports, among others.
