ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Medical Transport/Mayo One will host an appreciation event for southeastern Minnesota emergency medical services (EMS) providers, volunteers and first responders on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in conjunction with National EMS Week, being celebrated this week.
WHO: First responders, law enforcement officers and emergency medical services providers in the southeastern Minnesota region will attend an open house in their honor at Signature Aviation Fixed-Base Operations (FBO), located west of Rochester International Airport.
WHERE: Mayo MedAir base, Signature Aviation Terminal (signs will be posted).
WHEN: Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 6-8 p.m.
WHAT: Mayo Clinic Medical Transport will have its newest Mayo One helicopter, an American Eurocopter EC145, on display, along with Mayo's newest fixed-wing air ambulance transport — a Beechjet aircraft.
Flight nurses, paramedics, a patient served by Mayo One and helicopter and jet pilots will be available for interviews. Representatives from state legislature and federal congressional offices are also expected to attend.
This year's National EMS Week theme, Your Life is Our Mission, highlights the role these everyday heroes play in our communities. This event is expected to attract between 300 and 500 EMS providers from across the region.
