Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blindness
  2. blurred vision
  3. change in vision
  4. eye pain
  5. increased pressure in the eye
  6. loss of vision
  7. seeing flashes or sparks of light
  8. seeing floating spots before the eyes, or a veil or curtain appearing across part of vision

Less common

  1. Bloody eye
  2. change in color vision
  3. difficulty seeing at night
  4. drooping upper eyelids
  5. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  6. painful irritation of the clear front part of the eye
  7. swelling or redness of the eye or inside of the eyelids
  8. tearing

Incidence not known

  1. Backache
  2. darkening of the skin
  3. diarrhea
  4. dizziness
  5. dry mouth
  6. facial hair growth in females
  7. fainting
  8. flushed, dry skin
  9. fractures
  10. fruit-like breath odor
  11. full or round face, neck, or trunk
  12. increased hunger
  13. increased thirst or urination
  14. irritability
  15. loss of appetite
  16. loss of sexual desire or ability
  17. menstrual irregularities
  18. mental depression
  19. muscle wasting
  20. nausea
  21. sweating
  22. trouble breathing
  23. unexplained weight loss
  24. unusual tiredness or weakness
  25. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
