Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blue lips and fingernails
  3. blurred vision or any other change in vision
  4. chest discomfort or pain
  5. chills
  6. clay colored stools
  7. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  8. coughing up blood
  9. dark urine
  10. decreased appetite
  11. difficulty in breathing or swallowing
  12. dizziness
  13. faintness
  14. fast irregular or pounding heartbeat
  15. fever
  16. headache
  17. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  18. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  19. increased sweating
  20. itching or skin rash
  21. loss of appetite
  22. muscle cramps or spasms
  23. muscle pain or stiffness
  24. nausea and vomiting
  25. nervousness
  26. nosebleeds
  27. pale skin
  28. paralysis
  29. pounding in the ears
  30. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  31. red or black, tarry stools
  32. red or dark brown urine
  33. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  34. seeing flashes or sparks of light
  35. seeing floating spots before the eyes, or a veil or curtain appearing across part of vision
  36. severe sunburn
  37. slow or fast heartbeat
  38. stomach pain or tenderness
  39. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  40. unusual tiredness or weakness
  41. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. acne or pimples
  3. belching
  4. bladder pain
  5. bloody or cloudy urine
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  8. dry mouth
  9. frequent urge to urinate
  10. heartburn
  11. indigestion
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. nausea
  14. stomach discomfort or upset
  15. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  16. vomiting
