Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. bloody diarrhea
  3. blood in the urine
  4. coma
  5. confusion
  6. dark-colored urine
  7. decreased urine output
  8. depression
  9. dizziness
  10. fever
  11. headache
  12. hostility
  13. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  14. irritability
  15. itching, skin rash
  16. lethargy
  17. light-colored stools
  18. muscle twitching
  19. nausea
  20. pain in the groin or genitals
  21. rapid weight gain
  22. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  23. seizures
  24. severe sunburn
  25. sharp back pain just below ribs
  26. stomach pain
  27. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  28. unusual tiredness or weakness
  29. vomiting
  30. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. cloudy urine
  3. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  4. frequent urge to urinate
  5. heavy bleeding
  6. lower back or side pain
  7. pale skin
  8. trouble breathing
  9. unusual bleeding or bruising

Rare

  1. Chest tightness

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. bloating
  5. chest pain or discomfort
  6. chills
  7. clay colored stools
  8. constipation
  9. cough
  10. decreased appetite
  11. dizziness
  12. fast heartbeat
  13. increased blood pressure
  14. increased thirst
  15. indigestion
  16. joint or muscle pain
  17. loss of appetite
  18. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possible radiating to the back
  19. red, irritated eyes
  20. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  21. sore throat
  22. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  23. swelling of the ,fingers, feet, or lower legs
  24. swollen glands
  25. unpleasant breath odor
  26. vomiting of blood
  27. weight gain
  28. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. muscle aches
  3. stuffy or runny nose

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. bloated or full feeling
  4. body aches or pain
  5. bone pain
  6. congestion
  7. coughing
  8. cramps
  9. difficulty with moving
  10. dry mouth
  11. dryness of the throat
  12. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  13. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  14. heartburn
  15. hoarseness
  16. muscle stiffness
  17. passing of gas
  18. shivering
  19. sleeplessness
  20. sneezing
  21. stomach discomfort or upset
  22. sweating
  23. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  24. swollen joints
  25. trouble with sleeping
  26. trouble with swallowing
  27. unable to sleep
  28. voice changes
  29. weight loss

Rare

  1. Back pain
  2. ear congestion
  3. loss of voice
  4. pain in the ankles or knees
  5. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  6. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness

Incidence not known

  1. Loss or thinning of the hair
