Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Maxillofacial surgeons diagnose and treat congenital and acquired diseases and deformities of the face, mouth, teeth, jaws and neck.

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at Mayo Clinic is part of the Department of Surgery at the Rochester, Minnesota, campus. The diagnosis and consultative practice is located in the Mayo Building with outpatient surgery performed in the Outpatient Procedure Center in the Gonda Building. Inpatient surgery is performed at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus and Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus.

There are five surgeons on the staff in Rochester, making this one of the largest groups of academic oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States. Mayo OMS surgeons perform more than 15,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and procedures each year. The surgeons work closely with one another and with other specialists at Mayo to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Patients of all ages are treated. Pathologic, functional and cosmetic surgical procedures are available for patients. The surgeons in this group work closely with colleagues in both medicine and dentistry.
